same song, different universe
WHO: Manabu, Archie
WHERE: Archie's latest hideout
WHEN: an evening
WHAT: Delivery and drop-in
WARNINGS: naw
Manabu shuts the bike off and pulls the kickstand, pulling his goggles off and looking around. This isn't a familiar drop-off point for him, but picking up the slack of other runners is typical, and he's got no qualms about scoping out parts of the city he's not familiar with. You never know when it'll come in handy, right?
He notices one of the security lenses embedded in the nearest building seems already tampered with; telltale signs of rewiring sticking out and no doubt just replaying an hours-long loop of the same, innocuous intersection -- a good sign he's in the right spot.
In the sidecar, Scout whines, shaking his head and snorting for Manabu's attention. Once the doggy goggles are taken off, the Mightyena wriggles out of the seat full of supplies and hops onto the street, already on the trail of something interesting, tail high in the air. Manabu watches him for a moment before getting his phone out and triggering the notification that he's at the pick-up spot; whoever's on the other end this time ought to be ready to come collect.

Through it all, his Pokémon have been invaluable. They're most of the reason why he can even do what he does.
His own Mightyena is out on watch, as it usually is. Just a mangy street dog (or, well, a street dog with a relatively nice coat) you don't have to pay no mind to.
It gets up and spots the other Mightyena, growling low in suspicion. It doesn't recognise the smell, yet. Not close enough.

"It's okay, Scout," he says, encouraging. "We ought to be out of here in no time, so don't start anything, okay?"
Scout whines a bit between growling before letting out a distinct bark.

Is that him Mightyena smells? Weird! Let's not ignore this doggy reunion that's apparently happening.

Manabu blinks, staring dumbly for a beat before his mouth quirks. Wait-- so that means the person who ordered this cargo is...?
"Archie?" Manabu shifts to sit on the bike seat on his knees and look around for sign of anyone else before calling to the pile of happy dogs. "Hey! Where's that crabby pirate at already?"

"Mightyena? What are ya-- hoh!"
He's immediately delighted to see another Pokémon and the two of them playing so cheerfully. It is literally the nicest thing he's seen all week.
"Yo!"

Manabu blinks, mouth quirking, and climbs off the bike, walking around the dog pile with a hand outstretched to shake or grasp or whatever -- it seems to change on level of sobriety, but god willing it won't result in him having to duck a punch to the face. He's gotten better at dodging, but still!
"Long time no see," Manabu remarks. "What're you doing on this side of town?"

"Wanted a change. Got shot at, also. Ya know how it goes..."

Then again, how much can a guy really decide is worth lugging around after four or five rapid changes? Manabu supposes he'll find out soon enough once he's picked up the latest cargo and follows Archie inside, whistling for Scout to come along. Whether or not he does is...well, he's not going to sweat it too much; those two have catching up to do same as any family would.
"So I'm guessing one of these bags is animal feed," he says, scraping his shoes off at the door before entering properly, "since Scout kept nosing at it."

Manabu is right on the money. Of course, even with all these differences, Archie wants to keep his Pokémon happy first and foremost. He doesn't trust the stuff that Mightyena finds around, occasionally. He's too wary and paranoid of people poisoning it on purpose.
"Yuh-huh. I'm startin' to run out, an' 'Yena ain't as good at huntin' for himself as he used to be..." he comments lightly, pulling an envelope out from under some papers. Manabu's payment.

"You mean just because he's old, right? He hasn't been getting shot at as well, has he?"
no subject
"Is Scout gonna want a bowl?"
no subject
In any case, Manabu finds he has no need to speak for Scout, because, like magic, the mention of food brings the good lad in with a happy boof, father in tow. Manabu shrugs, smirking blandly.
"That about answers that, huh?"
