WHO: Scott Summers & YOU
WHERE: Throughout the City
WHEN: Before and during the event
WHAT: Scott's life sucks
WARNINGS: My characters
Age of S Open to government prisoners, pro-government metas
[ they don't bother keeping him chained, don't bother turning off the lights. what they do is keep his eyes covered-- sealed shut by a visor built specifically to negate his optic blasts. these days, it's just time in between the torture. his memories and friendships with the people he once called family begin to get more distant, replaced only with the faceless anti-government bodies. they feed him, bathe him with a hose, and let him out only to hunt. his only relationships are to his handlers and his partners.
he goes by basilisk now. life now is like watching himself act outside of his own body. he stands helplessly on the other side of an unbreakable pane of glass, pounding and screaming, but he can't stop himself. he can't get out. they'll never let him out.
Sunbreak Open to resistance members and allies
[ it's early morning, the sun barely risen. the crimson red cloth that he ties around his face at night is wet with tears again. he lost soundless sleep years ago, haunted by the nightmares of his time as their trained dog. he's so used to the routine of being treated so badly that he gets up and goes straight to work, cleaning and carrying supplies and restocking armaments for the day before anyone else has risen. by the time anyone else finds him, most of the daily chores have been done, his hands are red and chapped, and they have to remind him that it's ok to take care of himself. to eat and drink. to be a person again.
he's not entirely sure he'll ever really believe that. ]
Attack Open to resistance and government metas
[ the explosion wakes them all, but especially him. scott's filled instantly with a burning adrenaline of both fear and unquenchable anger. he fears that they're here to take him back again. he's angry at that idea, too, or maybe that it'll happen to someone else, but he knows that he'll never let that happen. like with josh and laurie, in the beginning, he'll make sure that they take him instead once they're all out safely.
no, he won't let them take anybody. he puts on his visor and finds himself grinding at his teeth, ready to unleash the full extent of his powers if he has to. he's not afraid of using them anymore. not afraid of hurting people anymore. maybe you'll join him. maybe he'll tell you to run. or maybe you're one of the people that he wants to hurt. ]

Age of S (ish)
Knock Out waits where he's been told for the armed guards to deliver his next "patient". In addition to building and maintaining tech used by the enforcers, now his handlers have decided to make use of the fact that he's a medic to conduct some research on their Meta assets. His built-in scanners can provide many kinds of biological data on Metas that they don't have yet.
And Knock Out complies, because he would really like to be allowed to eat this week.
Some are brought to him unimpeded, brainwashed and reprogrammed. Some are sullen but compliant, probably under the threat of punishment or worse. He doesn't know much about this Basilisk, but he supposes he'll find out in short order, glancing up at the sound of approaching footsteps. ]

Don't suppose you can give me a heads up on what's in store for me, can you Big Red?
no subject
Why, your very own alien medical examination. Sure to be the talk of the town... or at least, the base.
[ It's a scant trace of the mech's once droll sense of humour, now quashed under careful and meticulous deference to their captors. Scott was not the only one they'd kept in a cell when they'd deemed him uncooperative. But then in a quieter undertone, he adds charitably: ]
It will be fine. It won't hurt you.
[ At least, what Knock Out was planning wouldn't hurt. Who knew what their handlers were going to do with the subsequent information? Who could say what kind of countermeasures this wouldn't lead to? ]
no subject
[ he glances to the side again, towards the sound of knock out's voice, though he can't see the robot. ]
Or that you won't be using those giant, cold hands of yours.
no subject
[ He wasn't here because he had a burning desire to start examining his fellow government affiliates. ]
Cold? What do you think I'm made of, tin?
[ Knock Out sounds properly miffed at the insinuation. It's not posturing either; Cybertronians are made of living metal, which puts their touch to just a shade off neutral temperature. ]
There's an exam table seven feet to your two o'clock. Would you have a seat?
Wildcard - Doctor in the House?
But this time, for the first time since coming here, David froze at who he found. Froze as he was pulling a pair of gloves on, raising an eyebrow as he did.]
Seems I'm not as amazingly informed as I liked to think. Here I'd thought you were still government fodder, Scott.

[ though he has work to do and busies himself with cleaning up and helping others, he keeps his eyes down and his gaze away from david. 'government fodder...' he knows what he did, was forced to do. would he do it all again? save laurie and josh just to get captured? just to have those things done to him again? absolutely, yes. he just wishes they would have killed him instead of save him. ]
Thanks for coming, David.
no subject
[Not, of course, that he cares very much about the comings and goings of Scott Summers. Then again, he supposes he does have some degree of respect for what Scott did. The man had gone into darkness to protect the only two people that David cared about here. The only two people who cared about him. So that was... something.]
Don't thank me. They're paying me quite well for the work. Because I wouldn't come to a place like this for anything less.
[He finishes pulling on a glove and gestures for Scott to approach.]
Have you ever done work as a medical assistant?
no subject
[ he's tentative. this is as close as david's let scott get to him in a decade, maybe? but he brushes off his hands and steps over to kneel down besides him and the wounded at his feet. david says that he's only here for money, but he's not sure he really believes that. not with josh and laurie still here. he was probably worried about them, but would be loathe to admit it to him. scott decides not to ask. ]
no subject
[He needs more hands, and it's not like he can touch any of this stuff when he's not wearing gloves. He doesn't need the history of his own scalpels. But he doesn't bother being bothered by the other man's presence. David isn't the same man now that he was then. Sure, he doesn't like Scott, but he sees so very little value to hate these days.]
They have you doing anything valuable around here? Gauze roll, by the way.
Sunbreak
Still, she can't physically be at her mission control centres 24/7; she needs to wash, eat, stretch, even relax. People are used to her being quiet and clipped, aren't surprised when she's blunt or callous.
It's not often, nowadays, that her expression goes soft. But when she looks at Scott, lost to them for so damn long, broken and warped into a weapon for the government, just like -
"I'm making coffee, if you'd like any."
no subject
Oh, you mean me? Coffee'd be great.
no subject
"I do." She wheels towards a lower cabinet, pulling out whatever brand they've got; the resistance can't afford to be picky about the small things. "There should be some cream in the fridge, if you take it."
Sunbreak
It's not the first time he's encountered such a scene, either, but… The habits forced upon Scott seem to be difficult to break. Kurt gives him a little 'tsk' as he enters the space, more playful than anything he really feels about it. ]
You've slept already, I hope. I'm going to have something to eat, if you'd like something.
sunbreak.
in this one, josh reaches out to take one of those chapped hands in his and lets the warm glow of his powers wash over him. trying to ease a little bit of his suffering, because the wounds on his eyes are well beyond his weakened abilities. ]
Hey, Mr. Summers. Did you get supper yet?
