WHO: Kenzi and YOU
WHERE: Around the City, various safehouses, and imPort/meta friendly places
WHEN: During the Event
WHAT: Kenzi’s been reprogramed by the government and she’s out to expose the safe spaces and get folks captured.
WARNINGS: I mean this is the bad end AU… Language, possibly alcohol and drugs, probable violence, possibly death.
((For a bit more background info. Quick stuff: her powers in are telekinesis, telekinetic constructs, and perfect disguise. She does have mental wards to keep psychics and whatnot out but they aren’t impossible to get by. She can be tough to take down if she’s sober. She most certainly has a tracker in her.))
THE STREETS
[ Shortly after being released from custody, Kenzi slips into the celebrating crowds. Looking at her no one would suspect that she’s been cooped up in labs for nearly the past year. She slips through the crowd with practiced ease, as if she’s been up to her usual business.
There’s a concerned buzz in the air, rumors that the ‘Porter has come back online and that new metas have appeared through it. She hears a lot of people dismissing it as metas starting rumors and trying to stir up trouble during the celebration. You know, the kind of thing metas have always done.
Kenzi doesn’t worry about that right now, the truth would make itself known in due time. And it’s not like this was the first time that kind of rumor was spread about the City.
A familiar face distracts her, she bumps into someone without meaning to. ]
Sorry. [ A quick apology. ]
KENZI’S APARTMENT
[ She’d been informed that her apartment had been cleaned up after being thoroughly searched. That everything was in order for her to return to it as if nothing had happened. She didn’t know if they’d taken anything, however, she did know they wouldn’t have found what they were likely looking for. Kenzi wasn’t dumb enough to keep locations to the safehouses (including her own) in her apartment, or anything else that would tie her to the resistance. But considering she hadn’t been registered assumptions had been made.
After making her way up to her apartment she stands in the doorway looking around to see that everything looks to be as she’d left it if a bit tidier. ]
Home sweet home. [ She murmurs as she turns to shut and lock the door. She intends to grab a few disguise items and then head out to one of the nearby safehouses to do a check-in. ]
VARIOUS RESISTANCE SAFEHOUSES
[ She’s been dark for nearly a year, which would be incredibly suspicious for most people. But Kenzi has always been in and out, traveling around to gather supplies, money, or information. Sometimes she had to lay low for a while because she killed the wrong person at the wrong time. But she always came back to help out.
Getting in isn’t particularly difficult when she’s been doing this since everything went to shit. ]
Heyo! [ She’s all friendly smiles and keeping a light air about her, just like always. ] So, the rumors true? That ol’ bitch finally come back online? [ She means the ‘Porter. There’s never really been a time in which she hasn’t referred to Lachesis as a bitch. ]
[ If not asking about the rumors she has other questions. ] Got a list of supplies you need? I’m going for a run and can get just about anything. [ And if she can’t get it she probably knows who can. ]
SAFEHOUSE ATTACK
[ One of the safehouses, maybe one your character is, comes under attack by government operatives looking to capture or kill, whichever is easier. How on Earth did they manage to find this place? That’s quite the mystery.
Kenzi’s there, she’s putting on a show of fighting against the attack just to keep up appearances in case anyone manages to get away and warn other safehouses about the attack. She lets her powers go a little wild if it means hurting those trying to escape so they end up in custody but given the nature of telekinesis, it can be difficult to trace it back to her.
In any case, she does manage to get away and will take some people with her with the intent of leading them into a trap or, if they’re lucky, to another safehouse. ]

Safehouse
"Long time no see."
Maybe he is a little suspicious, but then th4ese days, he is suspicious of everyone. You don't stay alive as a smuggler if you aren't.
no subject
She returns the wave with a friendly smile, "Y'know how it is, kill the wrong politician and suddenly you got heat on your tail. Took a bit to loose 'em." It's a reasonable scenario given the kind of things Kenzi has been known to get up to.
no subject
He waggles a finger at her. Things have been rough lately and what he has heard coming out of central has made him even nore wary.
"Do you need anything to help you stay low?"
no subject
"Naw," she shakes her head, "I got my disguises and as long as I'm depowered they work perfectly."
no subject
"Give me a call should you need some help."
The coin is solid gold, and contains an enchantment to summon him, should the need be dire. Because, after all, Kenzi is one of the good guys, right?
no subject
You know, just in case she needs to lure him into a trap.
no subject
he grins at her, and nods. He is still suspicious of everyone, but she hasn't raised any red flags, so far.
"Which reminds me, you like the whiskey, yes? I'm getting in a good delivery tomorrow. Want me to lay some aside for you?' He did that for people sometimes, a small thing he can actually do in thsi damned world.
no subject
"Oh, yeah, totes do that. I'll try to make some time to stop by and grab it." Making it sound like she's so busy since her return. Which, if she's honest, she is. She's gotta put in the appearance of catching up with folks after all.
no subject
Harry grins at her as he keeps checking and unloading merchandise.
"I've got several runs today. Hopefully, things will be quiet."
no subject
"It's a holiday, they got bigger stuff to worry about. So you should be fine."
no subject
He rolled one shoulder in a half-shrug, grinning at her.
"Good to know. Thanks. Make sure you keep your head down. You were missed."
no subject
"You be careful out there. I should probably check around with the others unless there's anything else you know that I need to know."
no subject
He takes two steps to the side and walks through the nearby doorway, vanishing a few steps on as he concentrates on his destination. More places to check, more people to check on.
Safehouse Attack
Kang had been lucky enough to be smuggled out by resistance members on his arrival, and has spent the last three days learning as much as he can about what's happened. Unfortunately, he can't say any of it came from nowhere.
He'd hoped to have a little more time to figure out his game plan beyond join the resistance, but of course, things had to go even more to shit, with a raid on the safehouse he's been staying in. As soon as he hears the alarm and the sounds of fighting, he's on his feet, drawing his sword and doing a quick mental catalog of his spells. They seem to be focused on capture rather than elimination, but from the body by the door, they're not opposed to a few deaths in the process.
Growling, he sinks his blade into the nearest attacker's chest, going right through their bulletproof vest with ease. There are some perks to old-fashioned weaponry.
no subject
She spots Kang in the crowd, he's not difficult to pick out due to his size. She could make it easy for the enforcers and have something go wrong so he can be captured, but she remembers him, remembers their friendship. It's enough that she decides he'll be saved along with the handful of others she can get out and to the next safehouse.
She floats over and throws a wall of shimmery blue energy up between Kang and one of the enforcers. "Go! Grab as many as you can and go!" She yells over the noise of combat, she means it to the both of them but makes it look as if she's speaking to Kang.
APARTMENT
Maybe it's a gift.]
no subject
Using her telekinesis she floats it over to her and turns it around in the air to get a better look at it. She not unfamiliar with Peridot, they've likely fought on opposing sides in the past -- at least since the Gem was reprogrammed -- but why would she be here? ]
What have we here?
life came at me so hard i am so sorry
Greetings. I was sent here to be your handler for the foreseeable future. The government wants to ensure that everything remains as it should be.
[aka that you don't suddenly rage against your mission because you see your old friends.]
no subject
A'ight.
[ There's a flat stare leveled on the small gem. It could be so easy to jetson her into space and maybe be done with her...if she felt so inclined. ]
Am I expected to, like, carry you around or something? Can you even hear anything going on in when you're all, y'know. [ She makes the shape of the gem with her hands. ]
no subject
[and then, as if anticipating the fact that Kenzi can easily beat her to shit.] And if I don't report back, they'll know something went wrong.
no subject
You don't have to worry about any of that.
no subject
[She flicks imaginary lint off her appearance modifiers.] Because if it's the latter, humans can't be reset to factory settings. They get sentimental. It's always going to be a risk, and it's so.. Hngh. Inconvenient.
no subject
Maybe not, but when you don't have many attachments left to begin with... [ She trails off, slowly folding a shirt. All she wants now is to do something to please Doctor Tully, show her that her hard work isn't for nothing. ]
no subject
You didn't have many or any? [She frowns, still a bit suspicious, but humans are always shifty. You can't trust them not to go off book and do something crazy.] Because even one is a risk factor. I would know. I've analyzed the flight risk potential of every imPort brought in.
no subject
I had plenty of friends before they all died, disappeared, or abandoned me. [ Her voice is a growl as smaller objects around the room begin to rise into the air. ]
no subject
Oh good! You can use that. You can make them hurt. [Yeah, she doesn't have the emotional capacity for empathy right now, but vengeance? That's easy. She pounds her fist into her hand and snickers.] It looks like I was wrong about you. You're emotionally compromised in the good way.
no subject
Gee, thanks.
[ She huffs and returns to her packing. ]
Safehouse attack (Ignore icons, hes 17 in plot)
This time, he has to bolt. Poor Dog is being jostled around, half hidden in Adam’s backpack, as the teen runs after Kenzi’s group. There’s always so much noise. He’d tried checking into some rooms, but they’re out of time.]
Head to the left. [ As he quickly checks on Dog, and the hallway behind them.]
There’s a tunnel.
no subject
Maybe you should lead them. I can stay back and grab stragglers or hold off any pursuers.
[ This kid could be a problem with leading everyone into a trap but maybe that's not so bad. If there's not a few that escape it could be pretty suspicious. ]
no subject
It's too late. If you go in there, they'll get you too.
We have to go.
no subject
I'm not going back, I'm just going to prevent them from following.
no subject
Are you sure? What's the plan?
no subject
I'm a telekinetic, kid, that is the plan.
[ She could bring the entire building down on them if she wanted. But that's not her plan, not when she's working with them. She just needs the kid to go with the rest so she can go back to her masters for a bit. ]
Now you should get going.
no subject
He purses his lips, clearly conflicted, looking behind her down the hallway, then at the group of metas with them. He gives Kenzi another look.]
Meet you at there. [ As he wants to make sure she gets out, too.
He signals to the others, tells them to move along down one of the halls and down to a tunnel. Before he follows, he looks at Kenzi again.]
Down by the sewer door. By the huge tree.
no subject
She nods. ]
A'ight, I'll see you in a bit.
[ Once the group, including Adam, is gone she activates her comm to let the enforcers know where the others are going. She's aware that in the time it would take for them to follow those that escaped would be long gone, but that's all part of how it has to play out.
She follows after the group, heading for where Adam said he'd wait, leaving nothing but destruction behind her. There would be no using this path again. ]
no subject
All of this as they climb out of the tunnels somewhere in the woods.
Watching them go, he finds himself back in that routine of just hoping people make it out alright.
He finds a place to hide , waiting, listening. Checking his phone when he can. And he waits for Kenzi, completely oblivious to her real intentions.]
no subject
For now, he's safe.
She quiet as she stalks up to his hiding place, covered in dust from collapsin the tunnels and an intense look on her face. ]
Those tunnels won't be useable again any time soon.
no subject
He floats down from where he was watching and waiting, landing nearby. ]
Are you alright?
no subject
Just a little dusty. [ She tries to sweep some of the debris from her shoulders and hair. ]
We should keep moving. The last thing we want is to get caught right after escaping.
no subject
This way. [ He nods towards the woods and starts walking. ]
Guess some will have to find another place to hide out.
no subject
There's plenty of those around it's just a matter of staying off the radar until we get to one.
[ Which is a task often easier enough for her. ]
no subject
Dog is still peeking from the backpack hanging off the teen’s shoulders, sniffing lazily at the air.]
They showed up sooner than I thought, though. Third place the last two months. Figure something’s up.
no subject
Either way, it certainly sucks.
[ She occasionally glances back over her shoulder, just to keep up the appearance that she's making sure they aren't being followed. ]
no subject
Could be. [ But even saying that puts a bad taste in his mouth. ] Still too much though.
We have to be more careful. [ Says the least careful person there is, but he can afford to do that. ]
no subject
But I suppose it also takes a degree of recklessness if we're to strike back.
no subject
[ He walks in silence for a moment, a bit lost in thought. Thinking about things he's certainly thought about before, but they always come up in times like these. ]
Not everyone can do that, though. Lots of people just need to be safe.
[ Projecting a bit? Certainly. He could always afford to be a little more reckless than most, even being younger than most metas. ]
Someone's telling them where we are. Has to be.
no subject
[ She shrugs, seemingly uncaring about the fact there might be a mole in the midst. Maybe she's just confident it can be taken care of without much trouble.
What can't be seen is the slight bit of worry that maybe this kid is more perceptive than she's taken him for, that maybe he's onto her. She's been careful, her story is as solid as it gets given how much of a drifter she's always been. Surely he isn't onto her but she can't underestimate him. ]
We'll have to root them out then, won't we?
no subject
He doesn't like any of this, but...it is what it is. And what it is can cost people's lives, so they better act fast. ]
Yeah. [ He answers, distracted, before stopping and listening. They're getting closer to a road... ]
