you're gonna make me go
WHO: Askeladd and YOU
WHERE: throughout the City
WHEN: any time during the event
WHAT: local viking became local captain of a government enforcement team. why did anyone let this happen.
WARNINGS: there will be violence
1. Government Raid
There are a few abandoned warehouses and small factories around here. Convenient, when you want to keep an eye on one in particular. Askeladd's been watching the warehouse next to this one from a window for over an hour, other members of his team stationed at points near him or in the surrounding buildings. It appears, at this point, that all the Resistance members who are coming to the meeting next door have entered.
Askeladd reaches up to double-check his earpiece. Another convenience - it's remarkable how convenient people have made things to be, in every aspect of life. And what disgusting things it's all used for.
That's the job, right now. "Get all the doors covered. We're heading in." He turns to gesture at the others lining the hall with him. Come on.
His group will be taking the front door, of course.
2. Parades and Parties
Be visible. So he is - escorting parade floats, standing watch by the barricades blocking street parties off from traffic. He's not in any uniform (he's always resisted the idea, and has managed to get away with it as he's proved his loyalty over the years). But he doesn't have to be when he occasionally lets his coat hang open just enough to show the guns holstered beneath it.
Still, he sometimes seems to be taking the whole thing more casually than you might expect. He'll stop by a food truck and pick up a gyro to take back to his post. And hang on, is he drinking a beer?
If he spots you hanging around as well, he may raise an eyebrow at you. "Having fun?"
3. Wildcard
[have your own idea? bring it!]
((Feel free to be part of the team, and of course members of the Resistance are welcome! hit up
paperbacks if you'd like to plot anything out))

Someone triggers a rather unconventional alarm: Instead of a bell or a buzz, there's a bang as a body bashes one of the side doors. It's plenty loud -- more than enough to tip off the targets to scramble. And while they're doing that, Lucina's gotten hold of another one of the government operatives and chucked them clear across the hall to greet their boss after skidding along the floor.
no subject
Askeladd sidesteps Evan as the man continues to slide down the hallway and aims his gun at the attacker. Whoever it is, they're clearly with the Resistance, and they've just assaulted a government officer.
He fires.
no subject
In fact, she'll just yeet the damn door at the pack of them!
no subject
Askeladd falls to the ground and rolls forward, the door sailing over him and right into a few men who aren't as quick to react. He pays them no mind as they stagger back, instead using his momentum to get back up on his feet and come at the attacker. He's not carrying a sword today (more's the pity), and there's no time to draw his knife. But if he can get inside her guard quickly here, he can hit her on the head with the butt of the pistol.
no subject
Her head's angled so that the strike doesn't clock dead-on, but grazes her temple. That's enough to deter her from wanting to keep bullying forward, and instead shove him in the chest with both palms with enough applied force to send him back whether his heels want it or not.
"Get! Out of here! All of you!"
no subject
Behind him, Jon has managed to stand back up after getting a door to the face, though from the way his nose is bleeding it's probably broken. "You're under arrest for resisting a government officer!" The effect of his shout is rather ruined by clogged nose, muffled quality of it. "We'll use lethal force if you continue!"
The idiot.
Askeladd glances down at the door. Can he flip it up quickly enough, or would it be better to slide it along the floor and try to trip her that way?
Is she good enough to throw that sword?
no subject
No, she's more of a bruiser: anything that gets lobbed her way or tries to obstruct her now is going to get a good and proper slashing.
no subject
(Funny, to be the one using a knife in a fight against someone who can't yet be twenty, from the look of her.)
Jon, beside him, shoots. But he's been slow to react, and hits the door rather than the attacker.
no subject
Acting quickly, she rushes him with the intent to slap the gun out of his hands or, at the very least, hard enough to aim it away from her while she brings a knee up to greet his middle.
no subject
Askeladd, though, uses these moments to try to sweep around the attacker, bringing his knife up towards her throat.
no subject
The telltale bite of a blade on her skin makes her freeze, and while her grip on the gunman's arm remains, she slowly lowers her foot and straightens up as much as knifepoint will allow.
He's quick for an older fellow, isn't he?
Government Raid
This is how it typically works, and she is not at all bothered. If anything she's a little excited. Working with Askeladd is always interesting, and he's such a reliable leader that she knows everyone working under him is competent. She has yet to see him accept anything less. She looks over to him, waiting for the appropriate person to breech the door.
no subject
He gestures to the taller man next to him, who nods before bursting through the door. "This is Government Task Force Lambda! You're surrounded! Surrender now!"
Askeladd typically sends Barry in first. The man has a gift for bellowing, and effectively blocks most of a doorway. He can hear, from the sides and back of the building, the rest of the team breaking through the other doors. And a voice that definitely doesn't belong to anyone on the team yelling "die, pigs!" Followed by a sparking, electrical sound. And a scream.
Well, this cell definitely has metas members. That makes things interesting.
Gesturing to another two squad members, Askeladd heads in.
no subject
She follows in after Askeladd, breaking off to the nearest cover. She was far more useful for shooting than taking opponents down hands-on. As she did she tried to get a count of who was in the room, and which ones were moving to run versus those who were looking to attack.
sorry about that
Barry's already charged in, tackling anyone who as much as looks like they're trying to run with a taser. Another of the groups all seem to be in a huddle - the cause of which becomes clear as there's a louder zap than the tasers produce and two of them fall to the ground, a young woman leaping out over their bodies. There's the meta. Askeladd lifts his gun to aim, but other members of the team are moving in the way.
So instead he holds his hand up high and drops it, the signal to anyone with a clear shot to take it. Theoretically, they should shoot to wound. Practically, that doesn't always make sense.
No worries!
She takes aim, moving a little to get a better vantage point.
Then Askeladd drops his hand and she takes her shot. Hesitation was needless here, and she was aiming for the torso.
If it hit, the pain would likely drop the meta before she bled to death.
no subject
She's blindly gasping on the floor by the time he gets there. Throughout the warehouse, the rest of the team is cleaning up, restraining those they can and shooting the few they can't in "self-defense." Askeladd kneels next to the meta. A stomach wound - painful way to die. He turns her arms to look at her wrists. Tattooed with a number, as his own is. She's not one of the new group, with "registered" or "unsettled."
But there's still information to be gathered, if she's conscious enough for it. "Where are you from?"
